ANSWER:
I agree that the innovation in
technology has generated great benefits for human beings. However, this
does not mean that our life is not adversely affected, as will now be
explained.
Firstly, people are suffering greater consequences of environmental pollution than in the past. The growth of industrial activities in many parts of the world is associated with a greater level of exhaust emissions released into the environment, threatening the health of people. Also, traffic problems are becoming more severe in many big cities due to the convenience of private vehicles. Therefore, it is not surprising why the rate of people who have respiratory problems keeps increasing in many countries such as Vietnam and China.
Secondly, people now have less social interaction than before due to the advance in information technology. For example, young people today tend to prefer sitting in front of the computer screen rather than participating in outdoor activities. This will lead to not only a reduction in the level of social skills but also an increase in the number of health problems like obesity caused by sedentary lifestyles.
Finally, technology makes people dependent on it. Machines are involved in almost all daily activities in life no matter how much we love them or hate them. Many people hesitate to walk a few kilometres without a car. A number of students do not know how to seek information without ‘Googling’. It is not hard to imagine how the world would be if one day technology suddenly disappeared.
In conclusion, although the advantages of technology are undeniable, I believe that we should not overlook its negative impacts on our life.
